Meaningful exploration in design to provoke intrigue
Founded by Clarissa Guzman in 2023, Platform Studio was born out of the desire to provide quietly compelling bespoke interventions on the everyday. Homesick, Clarissa found herself yearning for the community, culture and memories that shaped her. The original objects subsequently paid homage to youth spent in Texas and Mexico, weaving together childhood, heritage, and current contemporary influences.

Intuitive design
Platform’s decorative design is rooted in craft, consistently reflecting an element of the handmade. It is multi-influenced and multi-referential, from brutalism, religion to folk art. An intuitive design approach leads to experiments in medium and material, for its service to the expression. This comes together to create Platform’s signature: its distinctive point of view.
Clarissa is a self-taught artist and designer based in New York City. While influenced by her home today, her work pulls on nostalgia for a first-generation childhood in Texas and Mexico, and is conceived in the light of art movements (such as Brutalism), historical reference points (such as religious relics) and layered with evolving influences (such as folk art). Looking to the traditions and techniques of forebearers with a spirit of experimentation, her work ultimately blooms in a dynamic of past and present.
